How to program MERLIN M832 / M842 remote controls to original Merlin M852 standalone receiver?

Program to Gate / Garage Door Openers and Merlin standalone receivers just the same way as original MERLIN M832 / M842 remotes, please refer to your receiver’s user manual along with your gate kit. For a typical MERLIN M532 Standalone Receiver, the programming procedure is as follows. Make sure to install the battery in the transmitter correctly.
1. Press the small LEARN button on the receiver for 1-2 seconds.
2. Press the desired remote control button twice. ( with a short pause between two button press )
3. Press the transmitter button to test operation.
Note: After teaching / programmed twenty remotes, the most recently learned remote will be over-written. To remove a single transmitter’s code or all transmitter codes from the receiver memory please refer to your receiver manual.

Merlin M842 / M832 / M128 Garage Remote Programming Instructions

1. Find the learn button – First Step

On overhead door openers:
a) With five exposed terminal screws at the rear – Remove the small black cover to the right of the terminal screws – Learn is the RED button under the black cover.
b) With four terminal screws at the rear, possibly covered with a plastic panel – Remove the lamp cover; remove the red or green control panel cover – Find the small button marked Learn.
c) With four covered terminal screws at the rear, and a Merlin wired wall switch – The small button on the Merlin wall switch is the Learn button.

On Roller door openers:
a) Single small square RED button on the front – Remove the lamp cover, remove the small black cover to the left of the lamp holder – Learn button is the RED button under the black cover.
b) Large RED or GREEN push switch on front – Remove the red or green control panel cover – Find the small button marked Learn.
c) Large RED or Green push switch on front and a Merlin wired wall switch – The small button on the Merlin wall switch is the Learn button on other Receivers.
a) Dark grey boxed receiver with a large round GREEN button – The Learn button is the small dark grey button inside the Green button.
b) Gate receiver cards – The Learn button is the tact switch on the pcb marked Learn.

Others – See your receiver’s user guide, or inspect and find a button marked Learn.

2. Teach the remote to the opener or receiver

Press and hold the Learn button for 1 – 2 seconds.
Press the desired merlin remote control button twice.

NOTE: If you want to control the lamp on your opener – press the desired button for the secondary function:

Press and hold the Learn button for 1 – 2 seconds.
Press the desired remote control button once for the main function to open door.
Press the desired remote control button once for the secondary function to control lamp.
